It’s time to update the Eater 38, your answer and ours to any question starting with “Can you recommend a restaurant?” This highly elite group spans the entire city, covers a myriad of cuisines, and collectively satisfies all of your dining needs. Every few months, we add relevant restaurants that have been missed, are newly eligible (restaurants must have been open for at least six months), or have stepped up their game. And keep in mind that this list is presented in no particular order.
As always, that means we have to drop a few good spots, and we continue to wish the very best the very best. Wayfare Tavern, Crudo Barand Zare at Fly Trap. Their spaces are filled with knockout newcomers Rich tablenewly eligible for the list; Commonwealth, which has received stellar reports from many Eater readers and friends; and Maven, which cooks killer meals under the direction of its new chef. (If you’re looking to find our essential bars, the Cocktail Eater SF Heatmap has what you’re looking for.)
Rather than having a phase four meltdown after excluding your favorite restaurant from the list, wouldn’t it be more productive to just propose it for inclusion?
