Editor’s Note: Although this is the second season of Great Chocolate Showdown on The CW, it appears to be the third season airing on Food Network Canada.
Big Chocolate Showdown is back! When the first season ended in America on The CW, it was unclear if the network would continue to air the other seasons of the baking competition show. But it looks like it is, and we don’t have to wait too long to see a new group of competitors making all kinds of chocolate creations.
The Season 2 premiere will air Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. This is a change for the show as the first season aired on Saturdays, but more people are likely to watch.
The show follows a group of ten bakers and each week they are given challenges based on a certain theme. But as the theme changes, what they create must include some form of chocolate, no matter the challenge. A baker is eliminated each week until he is in the bottom three.
At this point, the surviving bakers must face off in one last ultimate challenge to see who becomes the Big Chocolate Showdown champion and wins $50,000.

It seems that not much has changed between seasons. While the bakers will be brand new, the judges are the same. The judges include pastry chefs Steven Hodge and Anna Olsen, and cake designer Cynthia Stroud.
It also looks like there will, once again, be a challenge that tests a specific skill and then an elimination challenge that lets them use that skill but also show off what else they can do.
According to the trailer, it’s going to be just as chaotic and stressful as last season. Chocolate melts, things break and bakers sweat and cry. But I hope everything goes well and it’s delicious. It’s hard to go wrong when it’s chocolate.

Although the season is new in the United States, it has already aired in Canada (it is a Food Network Canada show). So if you don’t want any spoilers, you might want to avoid Googling the series.
