It’s time to update the Eater 38, your answer and ours to any question starting with “Can you recommend a restaurant?” This highly elite group spans the entire city, covers a myriad of cuisines, and collectively satisfies all of your dining needs. Every few months, we add relevant restaurants that have been missed, are newly eligible (restaurants must have been open for at least six months), or have stepped up their game. And keep in mind that this list is presented in no particular order.
As always, a few places must deviate from the 38, of which Chinese cooking mission (which we, like Bauer, have found to have noticeably dropped in food quality), Agricultural Bar (which has just undergone a major change of leader), and QA (which is currently changing its menu format). In their place, we offer newly eligible places lap dogeternal favorite Burmese Superstarand a brunch classic, Brenda’s French soul food. (If you’re looking to find a great bar, the Cocktail Eater SF heatmap has what you’re looking for.)
Rather than having a phase four meltdown after excluding your favorite restaurant from the list, wouldn’t it be more productive to just propose it for inclusion?
