You may have noticed that the Hallmark and Lifetime networks have fallen in love with our area, making all kinds of movies with our lovely places. And other moviegoers are taking note. The latest rumour? That Stephen Soderbergh will direct a self-written “Paul Blart – Mall Cop 5”, starring Edward Norton…and SET IN OLDE MISTICK VILLAGE!
And why not? Olde Mistick Village is a beautifully landscaped outdoor mall with New England architecture and charm and an incredibly wide variety of stand-alone specialty shops, restaurants and even a laundromat!
Ideally, I would mention ALL companies in OMV. But a random sample of greatness would include Raining Cats and Dogs (a pet store designed to provide products for humans who love their pets); Kitch (which is the kind of place the Food Network would get all their show gear and people who love to cook love to shop); Mystic Kite Shop (yes: buy all your kite gear here); Taylor’s Sports (yes, I can even find New Orleans Saints gear here); and culinary specialties and desserts; a lawyer on site; a laundromat on site!
Restaurants? You can live the rest of a long actuarial life and never have to leave the Olde Mistick Village because there are so many fine and different places to eat. The Blue Squid! Jealous monk! Deviant coffee and donuts! Mango Wood-Fired Pizza and Ice-Cream and Pink Basil and the Steak Loft and the Boardwalk!
Paul Blart will love this place.
