Woodford Co. baker wins spot in ‘Christmas Cookie Challenge’

(LEX 18) — We still have to go to Thanksgiving, but Christmas is fast approaching.

A woman from here in central Kentucky is taking cookie decorating to a whole new level. In fact, she takes her creativity to a whole new level.

“God gives us all gifts and mine is creativity,” said Lauren Jacobs, who runs The Cheerful Baker.

We are all creative in our own way. You have to be very creative to decorate cookies like Jacobs does.

“It makes people happy to have a cookie,” she said.

This season, the Christmas season, is her Christmas – literally.

“There’s nothing more fun than baking Christmas cookies,” Jacobs said. “I mean, baking a Santa cookie knowing it’s probably going to go to a kid, it’s fun and it brings me a lot of joy to be able to do that.”

Her creativity propelled her onto the national stage. She will be competing in the Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge on December 11. It all started with someone contacting her on Instagram.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I mean, I thought it was a hoax, really.”

She had to come up with her own recipe as part of the challenge. She says it was tough, considering how she’s swapped recipes over the years.

“The cookie community is a very helpful community and I have wonderful friends and we share ideas,” Jacobs said. “And I go to an annual CookieCon. Can you imagine? A cookie agreement? »

Jacobs also combines his love of teaching and creativity. She often teaches. You can find out more in click here.
